School Streets – upcoming implementation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras on Raynham Avenue
Enfield Council has informed us that they are currently in the process of reintroducing School Streets on Raynham Avenue to continue to reduce air pollution and harmful gases from cars outside schools, whilst keeping our children safe from increased traffic during peak drop off and pick up times.
To monitor the compliance with the scheme, Enfield Council will be introducing camera enforcement to help manage the scheme through the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). The expected implementation time is at some point during Autumn 2 term, after half term holidays.
Enfield Council is due to communicate with residents regarding the transition as well as clarifying the permitting and fines process. As soon as we have more information, we will update you with further details and the dates when the cameras are functioning.
Thank you all for your support in keeping our children and the community a safe and healthier place by encouraging our children to walk, scoot or cycle to school whenever we are able to.
