At Raynham Primary School the term ‘Creative Curriculum’ is an integral part of our teaching and learning. This encompasses many subjects (English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, RE, Art, DT and Music).
Our children learn skills, knowledge and processes that will help them to become independent life-long learners, who are able to collaborate effectively in problem solving situations. The Creative Curriculum approach encourages connections to be made across subject areas and within areas of learning to enhance the children’s ability to make sense of the world in which they live.
At Raynham Primary, the arts (fine arts, drama, music, movement) is an integrated part of our curriculum. We weave the arts into our core classroom curricula as well as teach specific artistic skills and abilities.
Our approach includes high quality enriching experiences, beyond the statutory requirements, for all of the children across the academic year. These include:
- Fieldwork – using the school grounds, the locality, the wider environment, trips and residential visits.
- Themed weeks e..g. STEAM week
- Focus days e.g. World Book Day
- Visits from other key people e.g. police and fire service
- Support from parents.
